PERANAN PENGAWASAN DALAM USAHA MENINGKATKAN DISIPLIN KERJA KARYAWAN FRONT OFFICE (FO) PADA HOTEL ARIA BARITO BANJARMASIN

The problem under study concerns the work discipline of Front Office employees. Supervision is basically a job to pay attention to how employees work in carrying out their duties. If there are employees who are negligent at work, it is hoped that the problem will be followed up. The objects of this research are the receptionists who work in the Front Office at the Aria Barito Hotel Banjarmasin. The method used in this research is descriptive research to describe a situation/condition that is factual in a systematic and accurate manner. In other words, this method aims to describe a set of events or conditions, which is to describe the work discipline of a receptionist at the Aria Barito Hotel Banjarmasin. The results of this study found that the work discipline of the receptionist in the Front Office still cannot be said to be optimal, because it is known that employees still make mistakes and violations such as using telephones for personal interests, using the internet during working hours to play games or social media. The conclusion from the results of this study is that the supervision that has been carried out by FOM is still not optimal, which is because FOM rarely goes directly to see directly the activities in the Front Office, so that employees often make mistakes and violations and in an effort to improve the work discipline of FOD employees, hotel management should make a written regulation and provide strict sanctions that make employees not dare to ignore the discipline that has been set. Suggestions from the results of this study are that FOM should have basic skills and knowledge about hotels to make it easier to work well, especially supervision of the workings of FOD employees and supervision techniques that should be carried out using two techniques, namely: direct supervision and indirect supervision and FOM should provide strict rules for employees and should be more active in providing direction, routine supervision regarding the neatness, discipline and attitude of their subordinates.
